CONCERTANTE OF LONDON
Director: Sir Nicholas Jackson
CONCERTANTE OF LONDON is a versatile one to a part Baroque Ensemble lead by Madeleine Easton and directed by Sir Nicholas Jackson with young players and singers chosen from the cream of interpreters of the new generation. They are a flexible ensemble capable of performing works such as Bach’s Brandenburg and Harpsichord Concertos, Cantatas, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Nicholas Jackson’s reconstruction of William Lawes’ Masque ‘The Triumph of Peace’, which they first performed at The Banqueting House, Whitehall in 2004 and again in 2009 where its initial rendering took place in the presence of King Charles I in 1634. They have been engaged to appear at The Banqueting House annually since 2004 and appear there for the eighth successive year in 2011.
They have frequently played for the London Chamber Music Society, including at London’s newest Concert Hall, King’s Place, the Garrick Club, at the Holywell Music Room, Oxford, at Bangor University, North Wales, in Menorca and annually at the Handel House Museum in London.
They often perform Nicholas Jackson’s new realisation of Bach’s ‘Musical Offering with just four players, and in 2009 their CD of this work was released on SOMMCD 077 together with the first CD recording of Gustav Leonhardt’s reconstruction of Bach’s unfinished Harpsichord Concerto BWV 1059 in D minor.
